N6MVA 2026 Field Day

  1. Recent Field Days have been at Ladera Park. It is a poor location for communication.
  2. Really need to assess interest in a real field day at a better site with multiple stations and antennas.
  3. K6KTS is willing to:
    1. Provide space on his property (which is a good propagation site). Mostly clear horizon elevation 1700 ft.
    2. Some antennas and equipment on site.
    3. Some emergency power
    4. 40 ft of covered patio
    5. Space for tents or push-ups.
    6. Ample parking (including overnight)
    7. Trees for additional antennas or space for masts etc.
  4. Although Field Day is not a contest in the true sense and no prizes are awarded. It is a very competitive “Emcom” and Ham publicity exercise.  K6KTS, an experienced contester,  will share his Field Day experience.  He has participated many years and chaired it for the City of Cypress RACES (W6CYP) for several years.
  5. Real field day is a 24 hour exercise (Date & time: June 27 at 1800 UTC – June 28 at 18:00 UTC). To support this time span we need everyone’s participation.
  6. Entry class would likely be class E with a fall back of A or D.
  7. If multiple stations are in use the 15 m station can also be used for 40 m the 20 m station used for 80 m and 10 m station for 160 m. These second bands would be night time and if antennas are available (Currently on site are antennas for .75, 1.25, 2, 6, 10, 15/40, and 20 m.  In storage but not set up are antennas for 23 cm, 80 m and 12/17 m.  No rotation is available at present).
  8. Tentative game plan
    1. 15 people expressed interest.
      1. 3 teams of 5 persons or 5 teams of 3 persons.
    2. Suggest entry as a class E = Emergency power at existing location.
    3. SSB Only. Unless strong CW ops volunteer.
    4. Each station needs a captain + team (minimum 3 people)
    5. Key stations in priority sequence (dependent on number of participants)
      1. Station 1: 15, 40
      2. Station 2: 20, 80
  • Station 3: 10, 160
  1. Station 4: 6 + V and UHF, Satellite, Digital
  1. All stations max power 100 watts
  2. It will be our goal to have an Amateur Extra or Advanced class control operator always on site to enable all participants to operate HF as much as possible.
