This Privacy Policy explains how the Menifee Valley Amateur Radio Club (MVARC, callsign N6MVA) handles your information in the Net Reminders companion app for iOS and Android and on the mvarc.radio website. We built Net Reminders to notify members about on-air nets and club announcements. We collect only what we need to do that, we do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in, your club account (username/email) is used to authenticate you and associate your reminder settings with you.
- Reminder subscriptions and preferences. Which nets you want reminders for and how far in advance.
- Delivery channels. The ways you choose to receive notifications — the app itself, and optionally other channels you add (such as ntfy, Telegram, or an email address you provide).
- Device push token. A unique identifier issued by Apple or Google for your device, so notifications can be delivered to it.
- Message history. Reminders and broadcasts sent to you are retained for up to 90 days so you can read the full text in the app.
How we use your information
- To send you the net reminders and club broadcasts you have opted into.
- To show your personalized message history in the app.
- To operate and secure the service.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it or share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Third-party services we rely on
To deliver notifications, your device push token and the notification content are transmitted through Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). This sharing is solely to deliver notifications to your device. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies (Apple, Google Firebase). We do not use third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs in the app.
Where your data is stored
Your account, subscriptions, and settings are stored on the club’s own server at mvarc.radio. Delivery credentials are held on the club’s push-relay service and are not stored in the app or exposed publicly. Sensitive channel values (such as a personal notification endpoint) are encrypted at rest.
Your choices and rights
- Turn reminders on or off per net, and add or remove delivery channels, at any time in the app.
- Disable notifications entirely in your device’s system settings.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (see below).
Children’s privacy
Net Reminders is intended for licensed amateur-radio operators and club members and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
